SCHEDULER RELIABILITY

Use a real 1-minute server cron for reliable WordPress-local monitoring.

StoreUptime and Titanium Site Watch run several application-aware checks inside WordPress. For those scheduled local checks, the most reliable setup is a hosting/server cron that wakes WordPress once per minute.

RecommendedRun wp-cron.php every 1 minute. This wakes the lightweight scheduler only; the checks still obey their own configured intervals.
WP-CRON IS REQUEST-TRIGGERED

It is not a guaranteed clock.

Normal WordPress cron is checked when WordPress handles a request. Quiet sites can have long gaps between requests, and CDN or full-page caching can serve visitors without loading WordPress at all.

When WordPress wakes late, a due local monitoring task can start late too.

WHY THAT MATTERS

Late scheduling can become late monitoring.

Delayed local execution can make check timestamps trail behind the selected cadence, delay problem detection and miss short-lived failures that occur between late scheduler runs.

A real one-minute cron provides frequent, predictable opportunities to start the exact check family that is due.

ONE-MINUTE CRON DOES NOT MEAN ONE-MINUTE LOCAL CHECKS

The scheduler wakes every minute. The checks do not.

Outside Monitoring + WordPress HealthFollow the selected public monitoring cadence; Advanced can use 1 minute.
Signed-in Page Check5 / 15 / 30 / 60 minutes — never 1 minute.
Critical Content5 / 15 / 30 / 60 minutes for supported automatic rules.
Selected WordPress PagesBasic from 1 hour; Plus from 15 minutes; Advanced from 5 minutes, with longer choices up to 24 hours.
WooCommerce HealthAdvanced: 5 / 15 / 60 minutes. Manual eleven-check WooCommerce Health is available on every plan when WooCommerce is active.
WHAT HAPPENS EACH MINUTE

A lightweight scheduler heartbeat, not a full diagnostic sweep.

01

Cron wakes WordPress

The server gives WordPress a chance to process due scheduled work.

02

Site Watch checks the schedule

It determines which local check family, if any, is actually due.

03

Only due work runs

Signed-in pages, content rules and WooCommerce diagnostics are not repeated every minute unless their own interval says they are due.

04

Compact results are delivered

Due local results normally push outbound; a bounded fallback can request only a missing predefined check result.

RECOMMENDED CONFIGURATION

Verify the replacement cron before disabling normal WP-Cron.

Create a cron job in your hosting panel or server scheduler and configure it to invoke WordPress once per minute. A common HTTP-style job requests https://example.com/wp-cron.php?doing_wp_cron. Servers with WP-CLI can use a local command such as wp cron event run --due-now.

ImportantOnly set DISABLE_WP_CRON=true after the real server cron is confirmed working. Disabling visitor-triggered WP-Cron without a replacement can leave WordPress scheduled tasks unable to run on time.
INDEPENDENT OUTSIDE MONITORING

External uptime does not rely on WordPress cron.

StoreUptime's outside availability monitoring runs independently of your WordPress scheduler, so a hosting outage can still be observed even when WordPress itself cannot execute.

WORDPRESS-LOCAL MONITORING

Application checks need WordPress to execute.

WordPress Health, Signed-in Page Check, Critical Content, Selected WordPress Pages and WooCommerce Health run in the monitored WordPress installation. Reliable scheduled execution therefore depends on a healthy WordPress scheduler.

CHECKLIST

Before you rely on scheduled local checks

  • Run a real server/hosting cron every one minute.
  • Confirm it targets the correct WordPress installation.
  • Verify several consecutive successful executions.
  • Only then disable visitor-triggered WP-Cron if desired.
  • Keep Signed-in Page Check at 5 minutes or slower.
  • Keep automatic WooCommerce Health at 5, 15 or 60 minutes on Advanced.
  • Remember that outside uptime is separate from WordPress-local scheduling.
